The classic Duchess merino wool blanket is woven from 100% merino wool, one of the softest and most luxurious yarns available. The finer fibres of the Merino sheep, mainly found in Australia and New Zealand, are softer and less course than other types of wool, making for a luxuriously soft and comfortable blanket. Available in a range of colours to suit any interior and in sizes single to super king, the Duchess merino blanket is ideal for dressing a beautiful bed or for curling up under on a cold winters evening.
We carefully select only the highest quality pure merino wool for our Duchess blankets. The unique structure of merino has many inherent properties that cannot be replicated by any other natural or manmade fibre. It is sustainable and biodegradable, as well as being highly durable, flame retardant, anti-static, hypoallergenic and temperature regulating. These inherent qualities make wool the natural choice for a good night’s sleep.
John Atkinson blankets are manufactured at the historic Hainsworth Mill in West Yorkshire using skills passed down from generation to generation. Each traditional blanket is woven and hand finished by our team of dedicated experts and craftsmen who proudly produce the finest blankets in England. We blend the wool, spin the yarn and weave each blanket entirely in-house on the widest looms in the UK, ensuring a truly beautiful finish and size that no other mill can match.
