As the festive season gets underway, John Atkinson and AW Hainsworth are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Leeds-based charity Zarach. Since 2022 we have supported Zarach in their vital work to end sleep poverty in England, and we’re pleased to support their Christmas campaign to help children get a good night’s sleep.
For every blanket sold before Christmas, John Atkinson will be donating a blanket to Zarach. This is a continuation of our ongoing commitment to Zarach’s mission, which focuses on providing beds and other essential items to help children in poverty have a safe place to sleep.
This is a small but significant way to not only offer children comfort and warmth, but to create a consistent bedtime routine and a sleeping environment that helps them feel safe and looked-after.
To help this campaign reach further, we’re also offering a 15% off sale across the John Atkinson website. Up until the 25th December, our range of hand-finished luxury blankets* are available at a discounted price, giving customers their chance to own an heirloom piece while making a positive impact for a child in need.
Zarach: the children’s bed charity
Zarach’s mission is a simple but crucial one: to ensure every child has a safe place to sleep. With thousands of families in poverty, having to choose between paying for food and fuel or buying their child a bed, many children are going to school sleep-deprived and unable to focus. An estimated 900,000 UK children are currently living in bed poverty, and 1 in 20 children have slept on the floor due to a lack of beds in the past year.
Since its inception, Zarach has provided bed frames, mattresses, bedding, pyjamas and other essentials to thousands of children. The charity also directly works with families to help them get back on their feet, making referrals and acting as a mediator between support services. This work all contributes towards helping families out of poverty and creating stable, comforting environments in which these children can thrive.
Hainsworth’s partnership with Zarach began in 2022, and we’ve been extremely proud to support such an important charity. Hainsworth has committed to being a Zarach Dream Maker, which includes a monetary contribution to fund a Zarach Bed Bundle (costing £150) every month over 3 years. We also hold regular fundraising events, and since the partnership started we have donated a pair of pyjamas to the charity on behalf of every visitor to the mill.
